Renowned gospel musician Nana Osei, popularly known as Nacee, has shared how he overcame a childhood diagnosis of sickle cell disease.
In an interview with Roselyn Felli on Joy Prime’s morning show, Nacee recounted how a doctor predicted he would not live past his early twenties due to his condition.
“The doctor said I would die at the age of 20 or 21 because I was a sickler. My childhood was full of sickness, and my mother had to rush me to the hospital almost every time. Unfortunately, my father died three days after I was born, so I never knew him. My mom was determined not to lose me too and did everything she could to keep me alive,” he revealed.
The ‘Mpaebo’ (Prayer) songwriter also mentioned that his mother quit her job to care for him due to his medical condition.
Although he was born into a Christian family, Nacee felt the need to rededicate his life to Christ, seeking a renewed faith to help heal from his ailment.
“Since that time until today, whether the sickness had wings or whatever, I did not feel that anymore, and I’ve been sickle cell free,” he stated.
The ‘Aseda‘ hitmaker emphasized that faith is essential for answered prayers, urging Christians to rely on it in times of need.
Reflecting on his experiences, Nacee expressed his passion for helping those in difficult situations, drawing from his own struggles growing up.
Now in his 50s, Nacee is grateful to God for defying the doctor’s prediction and remaining strong and energetic.
