Jose Mourinho is reportedly eyeing the managerial role for the Brazil national team, viewing Carlo Ancelotti as the ideal candidate to lead Real Madrid.

Despite ongoing speculation linking Ancelotti with the Brazil position when his contract with Real Madrid concludes next year, AS Roma’s Mourinho has expressed his interest in managing Selecao after his contract with the Italian club concludes at the end of the current season, as per UOL.

At 60 years old, Mourinho believes that the opportunities with top European clubs have closed for him, prompting consideration of a future role with a national team.

In a recent TG1 interview, the former Chelsea manager recommended that Ancelotti continue his tenure at Los Blancos, emphasising that the Italian is well-suited to manage a club of such stature.

He was quoted saying, “I think only a madman would leave Real Madrid when he is still wanted. I am certain that at the first sign from Florentino [Perez, Madrid’s president], Carlo will remain, because he is perfect for Real Madrid and Real Madrid are perfect for him.”

When Rai2 asked if there was a possibility that the Portuguese manager could move back to his former club in Spain, he said, “Me at Real Madrid? When you have a super coach, why should you think of another? Knowing Don Florentino [Perez, Madrid president], and I know him very well, he is a super intelligent man.

“If he reads the press, he has very clear ideas. As a Madridista, as a man who has some white ribs, and as an Ancelottian, I hope that the season goes fantastically and that next season Carlo is still there, because I think he is the perfect coach for Real Madrid.”

During the summer, the AS Roma manager received lucrative offers from the Saudi Pro League but opted to decline them, choosing to uphold his commitment to the Giallorossi by honouring his existing contract.

Regarding the potential departure of Carlo Ancelotti from the Spanish giants, there is speculation that Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso is a leading candidate to succeed him.

The legendary manager, however, remains dedicated to his current club and is currently concentrating on their upcoming Europa League match against Servette on Thursday.
