After undergoing surgery for a fractured right ankle, LaMelo Ball, a point guard for the Charlotte Hornets, will miss the remainder of the NBA season.
Ball was hurt during Monday’s 117-106 victory over the Detroit Pistons by the Charlotte Hornets.
During the third quarter, the 21-year-old fell awkwardly while holding the ball.
Ball underwent a successful operation, according to Charlotte, who also said that he will receive more updates on his recovery.
Ball, the third overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, had 36 games this season with an average of 23.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, 8.4 assists, and 1.3 steals.
He became the fourth-youngest All-Star in NBA history when he featured in the 2021–22 season finale.
Ball was named the NBA Rookie of the Year for the 2020-21 season, having averaged 15.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.6 steals.
