A group of enraged family members has assaulted staff at the Mother and Child Hospital in Kasoa, Awutu Senya East Constituency, alleging negligence that led to the death of their 17-year-old son.
On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at approximately 10:00 PM, the family brought Nana Adu, who had lost consciousness, to the hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the boy passed away an hour later.
Upon learning of the boy’s demise, some family members became enraged, vandalizing hospital property, and physically assaulting staff.
The deceased’s father, Daniel Hebibor, accused the medical staff of administering incorrect medication, attributing it to his son’s death.
However, Dr. Apetogbor Dzedegbe, the Medical Superintendent of the Mother and Child Hospital, vehemently denied the allegations, stating that the doctors had done everything possible to save the boy’s life, but he could not be revived.
Meanwhile, the Kasoa District Police Command has apprehended three family members for assaulting hospital staff to aid in the investigation.
