Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has asserted that he has significantly contributed to Ghana’s progress during his tenure within the Akufo-Addo administration.

This declaration was delivered during his address to stakeholders of the ruling New Patriotic Party in Donkorkrom, specifically within the Afram Plains North constituency, last Saturday.

Dr. Bawumia said: “I am always driven by public service, not the desire for personal gains”.

“It is the reason I am offering myself, first to be elected flagbearer of our party, and then I can offer myself to the people of Ghana so that I can continue to contribute towards the transformation of our country,” Dr Bawumia noted.

As Vice President, Dr Bawumia said he has done so much for Ghana.

“I have not been president, but as vice president, I have worked so hard and contributed significantly to the development of our country through landmark policies I have initiated and spearheaded,” Dr. Bawumia said.

Among the policies that Dr. Bawumia has championed are the establishment of One Constituency-One Ambulance, the inception of the Agenda 111 hospital initiative, and the introduction of the Digital Addressing System.

Additionally, he has overseen the digitization of key sectors such as the ports, Passport offices, and DVLA, while also spearheading the creation of the ghana.gov payment platform. His contributions further encompass the implementation of the money interoperability system and the development of the e-Pharmacy platform.

In his bid for the flagbearer position, Dr. Bawumia faces competition from nine other contenders.

A significant step in this selection process will be the superdelegates conference scheduled for August 26, 2023.

During this event, the number of aspirants will be narrowed down to five in preparation for the main primaries set to take place on November 4, 2023.
