A former Managing Director of the GCB Bank, Ernest Agbesi, is determined to see the National Democratic Congress (NDC) reclaim all parliamentary seats lost in the 2020 elections before he considers his mission accomplished.

He expressed his commitment to ensuring that all nine orphan constituencies in the northern regions of the country realign with the party.

Mr Agbesi elaborated that his focus on campaigning for the NDC in these areas stems from his belief that the unresolved issues contributing to the party’s loss in those seats persist.

To support these efforts, Mr Agbesi has been actively engaging with and assisting the constituencies, including providing motorbikes to aid their mobility.

During a discussion with a community leader in Yendi, Agbesi revealed that one of the reasons the NDC lost several northern seats in the last elections was the lack of basic resources like motorbikes. He highlighted the critical role motorbikes play in the 2024 campaign, particularly in reaching remote polling centers and communities.

Mr Agbesi noted, “In 2020, motorbikes were a very challenging issue for us, but now that we are getting this intervention early, we believe and hope that Election 2020 challenges will not surface in 2024, because of motorbikes”.

The nine constituencies targeted for support include Zabzugu, Chereponi, Gushegu, Bimbilla, Wulensi, Karaga, Yendi, Tatale, and Mion/Sang, all of which currently have MPs from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“The people in these constituencies are ready for the NDC to return to power and I vow not to rest until I win back all the 9 northern orphan seats for NDC.”

“Before these motorbikes, there were some kinds of polling centers and communities we cannot reach because, we want to go, but how do we get the means. We needed people to do one or two things…

“… so, motorbikes is very crucial in this our election 2024 campaign. And Yendi, for instance, with 66 polling stations in the outskirts, we need to have motorbikes… and it will be a game changer for us because all the places we were not able to go, we will use the motorbikes to go.
