Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has recently shared his viewpoint favoring leadership traits such as humility and patience over impulsiveness.
He conveyed this through a vivid analogy involving a scenario of a driver’s mate aspiring to assume the driver’s role.
In a Twitter post, Anyidoho articulated his perspective, highlighting the preference for a modest mate willing to wait for their turn to drive, as opposed to an arrogant one who considers themselves superior to the driver.
“I prefer a humble mate who admits he wants to wait for his time to drive, to an arrogant mate who says he is a co-driver and believed he was more important than the driver…” Anyidoho stated in his tweet.
“The man who prides himself in being a co-driver, so he considered himself to be better than his boss and not a humble mate, took over and messed up all the driving formula. Damn!” he wrote.
This metaphorical narrative suggests a caution against overeagerness and the consequences of disregarding hierarchy and experience.
Mr Anyidoho’s analogy is interpreted by political observers as a commentary on Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and former President John Dramani Mahama, representing the eager mate and the presumptuous co-driver, respectively, in the context of the 2024 elections.
Despite his affiliation with the NDC, Anyidoho has openly thrown his support behind Bawumia’s candidacy, emphasizing the importance of humility and respect for leadership succession.
I prefer a humble mate who admits he wants to wait for his time to drive, to an arrogant mate who says he is a co-driver and believed he was more important than the driver so “conspired with nature” for the driver to “give way”.
