Renowned Ghanaian fashionista, Nana Akua Addo has shared her strategic approach to red-carpet appearances, emphasizing meticulous planning and financial prudence.

She revealed that her red carpet looks are premeditated months in advance, with a clear budget set before the year’s onset.

This budgeting process, according to her, is a family affair, ensuring that her glamorous appearances are financially sustainable.

In a conversation with BBC Pidgin, Nana Akua Addo explained that outfit planning is a year-long endeavor.

She credits her creative team for their guidance and input, saying, “The credit isn’t mine alone. My team and I engage in vigorous debates and brainstorming sessions before settling on a look, after which I source the materials.”

When attending events on Nigerian soil, she approaches with the grandeur of the Met Gala but remains mindful of her expenses.

“I carefully choose the number of red carpets I grace each year. It’s akin to a production, given the artistic uniqueness I aim for. Yet, I ensure it doesn’t strain my finances or impact others adversely.”

She concluded, “Being family-oriented, budgeting is crucial, and we discuss everything. I don’t overburden myself. Instead, I allocate ample time for thoughtful assembly of my ensembles, avoiding undue pressure by pacing myself.”

Nana Akua Addo, just like every other year, was selected among the best dressed at this year’s Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs) held in Lagos, Nigeria on May 11, 2024.
