Hakim Ziyech’s potential move to Saudi Arabia uncertain after failed medicals

Hakim Ziyech’s transfer plans may once again be thwarted as recent reports suggest that he has not passed his medical examination ahead of a potential move to Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr.

After a lackluster three-year spell at Chelsea, during which he failed to replicate the success he enjoyed at Ajax, Ziyech is poised to depart the club.

Despite Chelsea paying a significant fee of £34 million to acquire him in the summer of 2020, Ziyech struggled with injuries and inconsistencies, resulting in limited playing time.

Despite having multiple managers during his tenure at Stamford Bridge, he failed to win over any of them as a standout favorite.

According to ESPN, Ziyech had the opportunity to leave Chelsea in January, but his potential move to Paris Saint-Germain collapsed due to Chelsea mistakenly sending incorrect documentation three times on deadline day.

Ziyech’s Saudi move in jeopardy

Hakim Ziyech’s transfer plans face uncertainty as it has been reported by Mirror UK that he did not pass his medical examination with Al-Nassr due to a knee problem being detected.

This development raises doubts about the move, which would have seen Chelsea receive £17 million, only half of what they initially paid for the 29-year-old Moroccan three years ago.

With Ziyech deemed surplus to requirements in London and new manager Mauricio Pochettino having different plans for the right wing position, the player will now have to consider other options.

The Saudi Pro League has served as an avenue for Chelsea to offload some of their unwanted players, with the likes of N’golo Kante, Edouard Mendy, and Kalidou Koulibaly being sent to the Gulf state.
