A universal bank, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) Ltd, has allocated over GH¢5 million for social investments in the current year.
The bank plans to dedicate more than GH¢2 million to its autism flagship health activity, with an additional GH¢400,000 earmarked for constructing six information and communications technology (ICT) laboratories in underprivileged urban and rural schools.
In a statement read on behalf of the Managing Director, Thomas Attah John, by Agnes Owusu-Afram, Divisional Head of Corporate Communication and Experience at GTBank, it was revealed that the bank will allocate around GH¢2.5 million for the procurement of life-saving equipment for hospitals.
This year’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities are expected to double compared to the previous year.
GTBank’s CSR initiatives last year included the donation of hospital equipment to the Paediatric Oncology Department of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the 37 Military Hospital.
The bank also conducted a week-long free Autism Workshop and Consultation, reaching over 200 families.
Reflecting on last year’s CSR activities, Mr. John highlighted the refurbishment and equipping of ICT centers in eight public basic schools nationwide, including institutions in the Upper West Region and Western Region.
Additionally, the bank supported flood-displaced residents in Mepe and provided assistance to the Village of Hope Orphanage in Gomoa Fetteh.
GTBank will continue sponsoring the Ghana Education Service Soccer Championship Super Zonal Tournament and reiterated its commitment to community engagement through initiatives like sponsoring marathons and organizing free musical concerts.
The bank, in operation since 2008 with 37 branches nationwide, emphasizes the combination of innovative banking products and CSR activities to make a positive impact and position GTBank as the bank of choice for Ghanaians.
