Singer Joe Mettle shared his numerous cherished memories with KODA, expressing difficulty in selecting just one favorite.
He revealed that KODA produced his very first official song, recalling, “At the time [KODA] had this small corner studio,” in Takoradi.
Mettle reminisced about KODA’s regular trips to Accra from Takoradi, when they played for the late Minister Danny Nettey, with KODA handling the guitars.
“There are plenty of memories,” Mettle emphasized, especially recalling “the last event we had with him in Takoradi,” where they spent considerable time together, discussing plans and sharing stories.
He mentioned that during their last conversation, KODA spoke about producing a new album and needing some equipment. Mettle, who rents music equipment on the side, assured him of providing what he needed.
Mettle was shocked by KODA’s sudden passing, as he seemed to be in good health. He recounted this during an interview with Mr. Lion on Class Drive on Class 91.3 FM, on Thursday, June 13, 2024.
Paying tribute to KODA, a celebrated Contemporary Gospel artist and sound engineer, Mettle described him as a “great guy” and “great brother by all standards.” He highlighted KODA’s willingness to help and his humility, noting how KODA often sought his advice despite Mettle being the younger one. In conclusion, Joe Mettle reflected, “God knows best.”
