Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Rashid Bawa, has passed away. He is said to have died in Nigeria on Thursday, March 14.
His body is expected to be flown back to Ghana for burial in accordance with Islamic customs.
Rashid Bawa was a Ghanaian politician, diplomat, and member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He previously served as Ghana’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
Mr Bawa also served as the Member of Parliament for the Akan Constituency from January 7, 2001, to January 6, 2005, as an independent candidate.
In June 2017, President Nana Akufo-Addo appointed him as Ghana’s high commissioner to Nigeria.
Mr Bawa was an independent candidate in the Third and Fourth Parliaments of the Fourth Republic of Ghana and was elected as the Member of Parliament for the Akan constituency in the then Volta Region.
