Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia asserted that Ghana doesn’t require a rescue from the opposition NDC’s John Dramani Mahama, as the country has already been salvaged by the NPP government.
Speaking on Asaase Radio, Bawumia questioned the NDC’s “Rescue Ghana Mission” campaign slogan, pointing out that the country was already rescued in 2017 under the NPP’s administration.
He reminded the public of the NDC’s need for an IMF bailout in 2015 due to economic mismanagement. Bawumia emphasized, “This economy had to be rescued by the IMF… that was the real rescue mission, as a price of mismanagement of this economy”
Bawumia highlighted the NDC government’s deviation from the IMF program, attributing its lack of success to this deviation. He emphasized the NPP’s role in rescuing the country from the mismanagement of the previous administration and building upon that foundation.
Listing the NPP’s accomplishments, he mentioned initiatives like the Free SHS program, Planting for Food and Jobs, restoration of nurses’ trainee allowances, and the Nation Builders’ Corps (NABCO).
Bawumia asserted that the NPP government has significantly alleviated suffering in Ghana since assuming power in 2017, citing substantial savings for parents due to the Free Senior High School program.
