In a highly anticipated contest within the Nsawam Adoagyiri Constituency, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) held its parliamentary primaries today to determine the party’s candidate for the upcoming elections.
The provisional results indicate a clear victory for the incumbent Member of Parliament, Frank Annoh Dompreh.
The results, which were released by the party’s electoral officials, show that Frank Annoh Dompreh secured a comfortable lead with 734 votes, while his closest contender, Hayford Siaw, garnered 228 votes.
Leading up to the primary, Annoh-Dompreh expressed confidence in securing a resounding victory, aiming to retain the Nsawam Adoagyiri seat with over 80 percent of the total votes.
He emphasised his intention to teach Siaw a political lesson that would be memorable.
If you look at the turnout, it is impressive. I didn’t have any difficulty. Even though they wanted to give me some courtesy, I resisted it because I wanted to go through the queue and the process. I think it has been smooth, no hitches so far.”
The election also saw 2 ballots being rejected.
