Members of the National Food Suppliers Association spent the night at the premises of the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) on July 4, demanding payment for their outstanding food supplies to various schools over a period of two years.
The suppliers, gathered from different parts of Ghana, besieged NAFCO’s premises in a determined effort to emphasize their demands.
Despite their efforts, they were unsuccessful.
On the evening of July 4, a Citi News crew visited NAFCO and witnessed the suppliers protesting by lying on the floor.
Spokesperson for NAFCO, Kwaku Amedume, reiterated that the group would continue their picketing on July 5 and urged the government to address the payment arrears.
The suppliers expressed the urgency of the situation, highlighting the serious national security implications they face as they are being pursued by creditors and facing potential eviction from their homes.
