Musician and entertainment commentator Kojo Kinn has taken aim at Kuami Eugene for his recent remarks about the promotion of songs he composed for gospel artists Joyce Blessing and Empress Gifty.
In a prior interview, Kuami Eugene expressed his disappointment that Joyce Blessing did not promote the song he wrote for her as vigorously as Empress Gifty had.
However, in a discussion on Adom TV, Kojo Kinn deemed these comments insensitive, suggesting that there may have been legitimate reasons behind Joyce Blessing’s lack of promotion, such as financial constraints or limited resources.
Kinn’s criticism highlights the complexities surrounding artist collaborations and promotional efforts in the music industry, emphasising the need for understanding the various challenges artists may face.
“As a writer, Kuami Eugene was being selfish. He was expecting the song to perform to a certain level but wasn’t considering the other factors that make a song successful.
“What he said wasn’t good. Because Joyce would hear it and feel bad. She had her reasons why she could not promote it as much as Empress Gifty. Maybe she didn’t have the funds or resources that Empress Gifty had to promote it,” he said.
Joyce Blessing’s song “Victory,” written by Kuami Eugene, was released in December 2023; in contrast, Empress Gifty’s track “Watch Me” debuted in September 2024.
