Kuami Eugene, the Ghanaian highlife musician, has addressed recent comments made by highlife legend Amakye Dede regarding their relationship.
In June 2023, Amakye Dede revealed that he was pressured into crowning Kuami Eugene as the ‘King of Highlife’ at an event, and even mentioned that he was reluctant to place the crown on Eugene’s head.
“Although I did that [crowned him], it was not my will. They forced me to crown the boy. That’s the reason I did that
“Even the crown they gave to me to put on his head, I gave it to someone to place it somewhere. But later, they gave it back to me to adorn him with it,” Amakye Dede stated.
In response, Kuami Eugene recently spoke on Anidaso FM, clarifying that these remarks have not affected their relationship.
He emphasized his respect for Amakye Dede, acknowledging his long-standing presence and significant contributions to the music industry.
Eugene conveyed that he holds no animosity towards the legend, stating, “Amakye Dede is someone I deeply respect and will continue to honor.
There’s no conflict between us.
“Amakye Dede is Amakye Dede and I will love him for the rest of my life. He has made a very good impact on the music industry. I can say that there is no bad blood between us. He is an elderly man, I can’t beef with him or question him,” he said.
