Renowned actor now turned pastor, Timothy Bentum, shared his journey of triumph over a 17-year drug addiction, attributing his recovery to divine intervention.
Bentum, who confessed to a prolonged struggle with cocaine and later marijuana addiction, revealed in an interview on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show that his experience was marked by an absence of withdrawal symptoms, a phenomenon he attributes to God’s influence in his life.
“I think God played a huge role in me overcoming cocaine addiction,” Bentum affirmed, emphasising his conviction that God transformed what was once a shameful experience into a powerful testimony of redemption.
The founder of Timothy Bentum Ministries, reflecting on his past, recalled being “enthusiastically devoted to the sniffing of cocaine for twelve years” before transitioning to a five-year addiction to marijuana, also known as “wee.”
“12 years of cocaine addiction, five years of weed addiction, in all seventeen years of addictions to the devil. If you find out how much we have done for Satan, you will understand our passion to do this for God,” Bentum stated in 2017, echoing the magnitude of his journey towards spiritual renewal.
Despite seeking assistance from clinical psychologists and mental health experts during his battle with addiction, Bentum stressed that it was the intervention of God that ultimately facilitated his recovery.
“Personally, I believe that I was in that place to help people and everybody I have helped, it is about first admitting that there is a problem,” Bentum reflected, outlining key steps to recovery including acknowledging the issue, embracing faith, distancing from negative influences, and fostering accountability.
Through his story, Bentum’s message resonates as a beacon of hope for those grappling with addiction, showcasing the transformative power of faith and determination in overcoming life’s greatest challenges.
