Guinness World Records (GWR) has dismissed claims by Ghanaian content creator Clementina Nkrumah, also known as Afua Nash, regarding her planned attempt to break the record for the longest eating marathon.
Afua Nash had announced a non-stop eating event lasting four days, seven hours, and 20 minutes, set to begin on Monday, November 11, 2024.
The event was to be broadcast live on the Savage Room show at Afropod Studios, and promotional materials shared widely on social media generated significant public interest.
However, GWR clarified on its official Twitter page that it no longer accepts records based on the length of eating marathons. Although such records were once tracked, GWR has since revised its guidelines.
The organisation now limits eating records to short durations, typically three minutes, focusing on the rate of consumption rather than endurance.
Afua Nash has not yet responded to this clarification, but the situation has sparked conversations on social media regarding the authenticity and criteria of record-breaking attempts.
