President Akufo-Addo has called on Ghanaians to extend a warm welcome to all visitors during this festive season.
He highlighted the global significance of ‘December in GH,’ an initiative to make Ghana a preferred Christmas and New Year tourism destination.
The President emphasized the need for the proverbial Ghanaian hospitality to leave a positive impression on the visitors, contributing to the enhancement of the country’s tourism potential.
“In this period, as we open our country up to the thousands and thousands of visitors who are celebrating Christmas with us- ‘December in GH’, now being a global event, I appeal to you, to exhibit at all times, the proverbial Ghanaian hospitality for which we are famed.
In his Christmas message, President Akufo-Addo expressed joy at the nation’s positive turnaround after facing three challenging years.
He highlighted efforts to control inflation, maintain a stable exchange rate, and stimulate economic growth.
The President underlined Ghana’s role as a gateway to Africa, attracting both domestic and foreign investments, while remaining a symbol of democracy, peace, and stability on the continent.
Quoting the biblical passage announcing the birth of Jesus Christ, President Akufo-Addo encouraged Ghanaians to use the Christmas celebration as an opportunity to reaffirm faith, hope, and trust in God.
“I am particulary glad that our nation has turned the corner following three difficult years, we and indeed, the world have faced. Inflation is being reigned in, we are experiencing a relatively stable exchange rate, and growth in our economy is rebounding.
He emphasized the cardinal principles of Christianity, such as charity, faith, humility, love, and reconciliation, as guiding principles for the festive season and beyond.
Looking ahead to the 2024 general election, the President called for a commitment to a free, fair, and transparent electoral process. He expressed confidence that Ghanaians would uphold the nation’s democratic values, reinforcing Ghana’s status as a bastion of democracy in Africa.
In closing, President Akufo-Addo wished all Ghanaians a safe and responsible celebration, urging citizens to remember those less fortunate. He called for collective efforts to provide support, showing love, and fostering unity to overcome challenges and achieve a prosperous future.
