The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has praised Inspector-General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare for the exemplary conduct of the Police force during the Ejisu by-election.
The party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, commended IGP Dampare for ensuring security during the electoral process.
The statement released by Frimpong expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police and the Ghana Police Service for their dedication, professionalism, and efforts throughout the election and its aftermath.
The highly anticipated by-election, held on April 30 following the passing of NPP MP and Deputy Finance Minister John Kumah, saw a competitive race among six candidates, including three Independents.
NPP candidate Kwabena Boateng emerged victorious with 55.79% of the votes, totaling 27,782 votes across 204 polling stations.
Kwabena Boateng’s closest competitor, former NPP MP turned Independent candidate Kwabena Aduomi, secured 21,536 votes, representing 43.24% of the 49,801 total votes cast.
Notably, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) chose not to participate in the by-election.
