Political Risk Analyst, Dr. Theo Acheampong, has opined that the leader of The New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, could potentially play a significant role in the 2024 presidential elections.
In a post on X on February 5, Dr Acheampong noted that Cheddar’s involvement could result in the elections not being decided in the first round, necessitating a run-off between the top candidates, the flagbearers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and National Democratic Congress (NDC), former President John Dramani Mahama.
According to the political analyst, Nana Kwame Bediako could garner between three to five percent.
“A myriad of other independent candidates (the main one being Nana Kwame Bediako a.k.a. ‘Cheddar’) could pull a surprise and collectively get between 3%-5% of the poll, forcing a second-round,” he wrote.
Dr Acheamong noted that this assertion is not derived from a scientific approach, but rather, a hunch.
In January this year, the business mogul, Nana Kwame Bediako, unmasked himself as the face behind the New Force political movement, quickly jumping into the presidential race ahead of the December polls.
Since the announcement, Cheddar has been informing Ghanaians of his vision for the country. But some Ghanaians continue to focus on investigating his source of wealth and extravagant lifestyle.
Cheddar urged Ghanaians to shift their focus towards the positive contributions he can make to the nation, rather than scrutinizing the origins of his wealth.
In his perspective, inquiries into the source of his wealth amount to judgment and do not accurately reflect the dedication and hard work he has invested in amassing his prosperity.
Many believe that the New Force could be the third force to topple down the duopoly in Ghana’s political landscape.
