Recently, social media, particularly Twitter, has been buzzing with criticism aimed at NPP’s vice presidential candidate, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO), following controversial comments he made about Ghana’s founding leader, Osaygyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
During his unveiling on July 8, 2024, in Kumasi, NAPO asserted that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s achievements surpass those of all previous administrations in Ghana’s history, including Kwame Nkrumah’s.
His statement that Nkrumah’s presidency was not exceptional has sparked outrage online, with many accusing him of disrespecting Nkrumah’s legacy and displaying arrogance.
Critics argue that NAPO’s remarks could be interpreted as an attempt to undermine both Nkrumah’s achievements and the opposition candidate, Mr. John Mahama.
Even celebrities have joined in, condemning NAPO’s statements and highlighting Nkrumah’s significant contributions to Ghanaian history and independence.
