Kwasi Kwaning Bosompem, the Controller and Accountant General, has officially declared his intention to contest the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary primaries in the Akim Swedru Constituency.
He picked up nomination forms on December 20, signaling his bid to challenge the incumbent Member of Parliament, Kennedy Osei Nyarko, and another candidate, Jerome Kwame Akodor.
Despite his active involvement in partisan politics, Bosompem has not resigned from his role as a civil servant.
“As of close of work yesterday, three aspirants had picked forms to contest for the parliamentary seat for Akim Swedru and these are the sitting MP, Kennedy Osei Nyarko, followed by Jerome Kwame Akodor and Kwasi Kwaning Bosompem – the Controller Accountant General,” the Akim-Swedru NPP Constituency Secretary, Daniel Ntiri told JoyNews.
The NPP’s parliamentary primaries for the Akim Swedru Constituency are scheduled for 2024.
