Former Information Minister John Tia has passed away after a brief illness, according to sources from MyNewsGh.com in the Upper East Region.

He reportedly died in the early hours of March 24, 2024, at the Upper East Regional Hospital in Bolgatanga.

John Tia, who recently participated in the confirmation of Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang as the running mate for the 2024 election, served as the Member of Parliament for Talensi from January 7, 1993, until his defeat in the 2012 general election.

Additionally, he held the position of Minister for Information in Ghana.

Survived by four children, Tia had announced his intention to pursue full-time farming after his ambassadorial role in Cuba, aiming to contribute to the country’s food security efforts.
