Three individuals have been arrested in Bole on suspicion of setting fire to several houses in the area.
According to a report from citinewsroom.com, the houses targeted belonged to the Jahori tribe, and the incident is believed to be linked to an ongoing conflict between the Bole Overlord and the Jahori community.
The dispute stems from a longstanding land disagreement between the Bole community and the Jahori tribe, leading to escalating tensions and mutual threats between the two groups.
Legal action initiated by Bole Wura Safo Kutugefeso in 2023 at the Tamale High Court against the Jahoris culminated in a court ruling in favor of the Jahori tribe on February 6, 2024.
During a court session on March 21, 2024, Justice Richard Mac Kogyapwah, the presiding judge, issued an injunction preventing Bole Wura from involvement in Jahori lands until a final settlement is reached.
Following this decision, the arrest of Alex, Bole Wura’s brother, and a sub-chief was ordered. However, this action led to outrage among the youth in Bole, resulting in the burning of houses belonging to the Jahori community.
In response to these events, Stephen Obeng Darko, legal counsel for the Jahori clan, emphasized the importance of adhering to the court’s injunction against Bole Wura’s interference in Jahori lands and affairs.
