GhanaWeb’s ‘Artiste of the Year 2023’ poll, a harmonious blend of rhythms and lyrics, has captivated both artists and their ardent followers, creating a vibrant dialogue of engagement through its online voting platform.
This poll, echoing across the digital realm for a week, gathered 6,409 participants, each vote adding a unique note to this grand musical celebration.
In this symphony of voices, Black Sherif rose to prominence, clinching the title of ‘Artiste of the Year’ with a compelling 1,752 votes, accounting for 27.33% of the total.
Not far behind, the ‘Terminator’ sensation, King Promise, secured the runner-up position with 1,050 votes (16.38%), while Stonebwoy, famed for ‘Into The Future,’ earned a respectable third place with 876 votes (13.66%).
The poll also shone a spotlight on diverse talents, including Nacee, the only gospel artist in the mix, who achieved the fourth spot with 1,001 votes (15.6%). Amerado, known for ‘Kwaku Ananse,’ followed in fifth place with 759 votes (11.84%).
Shatta Wale, the creator of ‘Designer,’ landed in sixth place, garnering 416 votes (6.49%). Rounding out the top spots were Sarkodie with 381 votes (5.94%) and Kuami Eugene with 174 votes (2.71%).
2023 was a year of global resonance for Black Sherif. His performances at major international stages like the “Wireless Festival in Abu Dhabi, UK”, “Something in the Water” in Virginia, and his own shows in New York City and Atlanta highlighted his global appeal. His music vibrated through festivals in Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, and beyond.
Black Sherif’s accolades in 2023 were numerous, including Best International Flow at the BET Hip Hop Awards, Best Hip Hop at the Soundcity Awards, and multiple honors at the Ghana Music Awards USA and the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), such as Artiste of the Year, Best Hip Hop Song, and more.
Marking a significant achievement, Black Sherif’s management announced that his music had crossed over a billion streams cumulatively, a testament to his widespread impact and the universal appeal of his artistry.
