Carlo Ancelotti has indicated that Real Madrid’s recent pre-season tour has highlighted a significant vulnerability for the club as they head into the 2023/24 season, particularly in their defense.
During their pre-season tour, Real Madrid allowed three goals across three matches. Their final pre-season game saw them suffer a 3-1 loss to the formidable Italian team Juventus.
Sportskeeda reports that Ancelotti openly acknowledged that his Real Madrid squad conceded an excessive number of goals during these matches. This followed their earlier match against rivals Barcelona, where they also let in three goals.
“Offensively, there are no problems, but we have to sort it out defensively. It’s an easy problem to solve. There are things we have to try in this period, and it has been quite clear what we need to fix things.”
After defeating AC Milan and Manchester United in their first two preseason games, Los Blancos have been thrashed in their last two games against Barcelona and Juventus.
Fans blast Real Madrid after defeat
Fans have taken to social media to lambast Real Madrid after they lost 3-1 to Juventus in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday night in the United States, SB Media reports.
Some disappointed fans claimed Real Madrid would struggle against MLS Franchise Inter Miami, while some also labelled Carlo Ancelotti as ‘the worst manager in the world’ after the 3-1 defeat.
Real Madrid will kickstart their 2023/24 campaign against Athletic Club on August 12 as the Spanish giants try to reclaim the La Liga title they lost to Barcelona last season.
Ancelotti confident of new strikers
Earlier, Sports Brief reported Carlo Ancelotti said Real Madrid are fine in their strikers’ department after the signings of Joseulu and Brahim Diaz following the departure of Karim Benzema.
