About 2 billion people have watched AFCON worldwide – CAF president says

President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Dr. Patrice Motsepe, has announced that the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) has garnered nearly 2 billion views worldwide.

This achievement marks a significant milestone for Africa, showcasing the continent’s premier tournament to a global audience.

Motsepe expressed pride in the widespread interest in the event, highlighting the importance of showcasing African football on a global scale.

Looking ahead, he assured that the next edition of the tournament would see further improvements, promising an even better experience for fans and participants alike.

“We have had close to 2 billion people watching AFCON globally. We should be proud as Africans and the next one will be even better,” said CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe.
