Ghanaian media personality Afia Pokua, popularly known as Vim Lady, has commented on the potential impact of Kennedy Agyapong‘s involvement in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign for the NPP flagbearer position, as well as the broader implications for the party in the upcoming 2024 elections.
Vim Lady observed that the NPP’s pre-election campaign has lost momentum since Dr. Bawumia’s nomination in the NPP Primaries, especially when compared to the vigorous campaign led by John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
She noted that Dr. Bawumia is currently facing challenges due to his past economic statements, and suggested that Kennedy Agyapong’s support could be instrumental.
During her interview on Okay FM, she mentioned that Kennedy Agyapong’s involvement might invigorate the vice president’s campaign, which has been struggling.
She remarked, “The NPP’s campaign has been uncertain, but Kennedy Agyapong’s entry could change that. Mahama is leading in campaign efforts right now. If the NPP campaign were strong, Agyapong’s participation wouldn’t be necessary.”
Vim Lady emphasized Agyapong’s significant influence and pointed out that some actions by President Akufo-Addo have placed the party in a challenging position, exacerbating Bawumia’s difficulties.
With the economy facing issues like high inflation and unemployment, Bawumia seems to view Agyapong as a crucial ally and problem-solver.
These comments came after Kennedy Agyapong was seen campaigning for Dr. Bawumia during the NPP Ashanti Regional campaign tour, which surprised many given their previous disagreements.
