Apostle Abraham Lamptey, the founder and leader of Believers House of Worship International, has voiced his disapproval of Ghana’s ongoing power crisis in a recent sermon to his congregation.
The respected religious figure criticized the government’s handling of the situation, accusing them of disrespect towards the people.
During his address over the weekend, Apostle Lamptey pointedly questioned the silence of those who had previously criticized former President John Dramani Mahama for similar power challenges but had turned a blind eye to the current outages under President Akufo-Addo-Addo‘s administration.
Expressing concern over the politicization of crucial issues, he emphasized the seriousness of the power crisis and urged the government to provide a clear timetable for addressing it.
He lamented the lack of transparency from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) regarding the reasons behind the outages.
“They don’t respect anybody. Akufo-Addo has no respect for anybody. ECG is not telling us what is wrong. Nobody is talking. The Akan chiefs, we heard you during the era of former President Mahama. Have you lost your voice now? Those prophets who prophesied about the victory of the NPP, was this part of your prophecies? What is happening to Ghana? Nobody respects anybody to say that today, the dumsor will affect residents in Mamaprobi and the next one will affect Odorkor residents.
What is wrong with us? We deserve to be treated and seen as human beings, not sheep or goats,” Rev Lamptey stated.
Apostle Lamptey also criticized the government’s campaign promises, suggesting that they were made out of desperation rather than genuine wisdom.
He expressed disappointment in Ghanaian professionals seeking opportunities abroad, citing a lack of effective leadership as the root cause.
In a passionate plea, he urged Ghanaians, especially his church members, not to succumb to political manipulation and to speak out against injustices on social media.
He called for a return to accountability and effective governance, highlighting the need for leaders to respect and listen to the concerns of the people.
Addressing Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh directly, Apostle Lamptey called for a more empathetic and informative approach in addressing the nation about the power crisis.
He cautioned against the growing disconnect between those in power and the citizens, urging for humility and genuine dialogue to resolve pressing issues.
