The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has urged the Akufo-Addo government to acknowledge the realities of the economic landscape.
He emphasized the importance of government giving precedence to policies that cultivate industrial growth, thereby facilitating job creation and attracting more investment.
He has recommended diversifying public enterprises like the Volta River Authority (VRA), Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) by involving the private sector to ensure crucial financial investments.
These statements were made during the commissioning of a 430-kilometre natural gas pipeline by Genser Energy, aimed at bolstering the nation’s power sector.
Otumfuo emphasized the necessity for the government to involve the private sector in setting up companies to attract more investors and create employment opportunities.
Otumfuo stressed the importance of relinquishing control of industries that the government cannot adequately maintain or run, especially amidst financial constraints.
