Outspoken journalist and radio show host of Angel TV’s morning show, Okatakyie Afrifa, has ribbed into, the indigenes of Nungua, especially targeting their chief priest, Nuumo Borketey Laweh Tsuru XXXIII’s, following his marriage to an alleged 1-year-old girl in a grand ceremony on March 20, 2024.
The news of the marriage was met with widespread local and international criticisms. Among the many who added their voices is the broadcast journalist who called the chief’s move to marry the minor “an animalistic behaviour.”.
“This is the behaviour of an animal; in the 21st century, this kind of thinking doesn’t belong here,” he fumed.
During an appearance on his morning show on April 3, 2024, Okatakyie slammed the people of Nungua, calling them mentally unstable and primitive.
He said in Twi, “People of Nungua, tell your chief priest what I said; I mean, you people have a mental problem. As a chief priest, we have married a 12-year-old girl to you, a 63-year-old girl”.
Okatakyie went on to question the chief about whether he would allow his child marry a man his age.
“Would you allow someone to marry your 12-year-old daughter?” he quizzed in ‘rage’.
