Ghanaian actor and aspiring politician John Dumelo recently expressed his confidence in winning the upcoming election, despite facing competition from the incumbent Member of Parliament Lydia Seyram Alhassan.
Known for his roles in the entertainment industry and his foray into politics and farming, Dumelo responded to a question posed by one of his followers regarding his determination to contest for the parliamentary seat in Ayawaso.
Kwaku Yung, a supporter of Dumelo, questioned the actor’s persistence in running for office after facing previous setbacks.
Yung highlighted Dumelo’s past failures and urged him to explain what continues to drive his ambition, particularly in challenging Hon. Lydia Alhassan for the parliamentary position.
In his response, Dumelo clarified that he had faced defeat only once, contrary to Yung’s claim of numerous failures.
Asserting his determination and optimism, Dumelo confidently stated his belief that he would emerge victorious in the 2024 election, even with the incumbent MP as his competitor.
When asked about his motivation despite setbacks, Dumelo emphasised his resilient nature, stating, “I’ve failed only once at it, and I know the next attempt will be a win. I don’t give up easily!”
This unwavering determination reflects Dumelo’s steadfast commitment to his political aspirations, setting the stage for an intriguing electoral contest in the Ayawaso constituency.
