Real Madrid has confirmed that Jude Bellingham will be sidelined for three weeks due to a high ankle sprain sustained during their LaLiga victory over Girona on Saturday.
Despite scoring twice in the 4-1 triumph against Girona, which propelled Madrid five points clear at the top of La Liga, the England international was forced off before the hour mark with an injury to his left ankle.
Following the match, Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti announced that Bellingham would undergo medical examinations.
Subsequently, on Sunday, Madrid confirmed the diagnosis of a sprained ankle.
The timing of the injury is particularly challenging for Madrid as they gear up for Champions League action, facing RB Leipzig in the round of 16 on Tuesday, followed by a LaLiga encounter against Rayo Vallecano next weekend.
Bellingham’s absence poses a significant setback for Madrid, as he is currently their leading scorer with 20 goals across all competitions this season, with 16 of those coming in LaLiga.
