Ivorian tactician Aboubakar Ouattara named as new Hearts of Oak coach

Hearts of Oak have named Ivorian coach Aboubakar Ouattara as their new head coach, marking an abrupt change in leadership for the club.

The announcement, disclosed on Friday, February 9, signals a swift transition in management.

As per the club’s official statement, Coach Aboubakar Ouattara has inked a two-and-a-half-year deal with Hearts of Oak. He is slated to commence training sessions with the team following their friendly match against the Techiman Eleven Wonders over the weekend.

“The Board of Accra Hearts of Oak has appointed Ivorian coach Aboubakar Ouattara as the club’s substantive head coach. His appointment takes immediate effect.

“Coach Ouattara has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the club and is expected to start training next week when the team returns from this weekend’s friendly game against Techiman Eleven Wonders,” the statement from Hearts of Oak said.

Replacing Martin Koopman, who was relieved of his duties in the early stages of the 2023–24 Ghana Premier League season, Aboubakar Ouattara steps into the role as head coach.

With a CAF Licence ‘A’ coaching certificate, Coach Ouattara boasts extensive experience, having tasted success across multiple African nations in coaching and technical director roles.

The Hearts of Oak board shows unwavering faith in Coach Ouattara’s capabilities to steer the team towards triumph, signalling a fresh era for the club under his leadership.
