Ama Serwaa, who claims to be a member and delegate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has announced that she is willing to sell her vote in the upcoming party’s flagbearership election set for November 4, 2023.
During an interview on TV3, Ama Serwaa revealed that her financial hardships have become so severe that she can hardly afford to have one meal a day, in stark contrast to her previous situation when she enjoyed two meals daily, including fufu.
“I am hot, I used to eat fufu two times daily, but as of now, I am even struggling with one, so for me whoever pays the highest has my vote because we don’t see them after elections,” she is quoted to have said.
On the back of the disappearing act by politicians, she stressed: “no one is ready to sacrifice for the country, all of us want something to survive on.”
The NPP flagbearership race features four contenders: Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central; Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia; Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto; and Francis Addai-Nimoh.
The NPP has scheduled the election to choose its new leader on November 4, 2023, as President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s successor.
