FIFA U20 WWC:Black Princesses near exit of tournament after losing first two group games

After losing to Japan in their second group game, Ghana’s Black Princesses are on the verge of being eliminated from the 2022 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The Princesses had to play the most of the game with 10 women when Ghana faced the USA in the tournament’s opening encounter, which it lost 3-0.

Coach Ben Fokuo, the team’s head coach, made a number of adjustments today in an effort to produce a result that would maintain the team’s chances of moving on to the tournament’s knockout round.

Ghana performed admirably in the first half but was unable to score the necessary equalizer.

After the break, Japan capitalized on the numerous lost opportunities in the second half to score twice.

The reigning champions were given penalties in the 61st and 72nd minutes, which resulted in all of the goals.

After 90 minutes, Japan defeated Ghana 2-0 thanks to goals from attacking midfielder Maika Hamano who stepped up for both kicks.

Ghana will play the Netherlands in the final game for a chance to compete for honor.

In the second group game, if the USA defeats the Netherlands, Ghana’s elimination from the competition will be official.
