The Ontario Provincial Police are going to a car crash on Highway 417 in Ottawa. The incident happened on Tuesday morning resulting in the death of one person.

Emergency services came to the place where the westbound lanes of Hwy 417 meet Kinburn Side Road before 9:30 am.

The crash site is on the west side of Ottawa, about 15 kilometers south of Arnprior.

Ottawa Paramedics first said four people got hurt, but then they said one person had died at the scene.

Two women were sent to the hospital because one was very badly hurt and the other was hurt too. This is according to Marc-Antoine Deschamps who is a spokesperson.

A baby girl was also taken to the hospital in very bad condition.

Police officer Michael Fathi told CTV News that a car from one side of the highway went into the other side and hit a car coming from the opposite direction.

Nick Defazio from Ottawa Fire Services said that two vehicles were in a crash. The people in the car didn’t need to be rescued.

The police have stopped traffic going west and are sending cars in a different direction. The road going towards the west is still closed.

The road will be closed for a few hours, so drivers should find a different way to go.
