Following Black Sherif’s victory in the Best International Flow category, social media users have been quick to resurface a tweet from 2018 by the self-proclaimed Dancehall artist Shatta Wale.
In this 2018 tweet, Shatta Wale had claimed to have received communication from BET, which has now become a topic of discussion in light of Black Sherif’s recent BET win for Best International Flow.
Black Sherif secured the award for Best International Flow Act at The 2023 BET Awards held in Atlanta, Georgia, on October 23. He triumphed over other notable artists in the music scene, including AKA (South Africa), Sampa The Great (Zambia), Gazo (France), J Hus (UK), K.O (South Africa), Major Rd (Brazil), Ninho (France), Central Cee (UK), and Tasha & Tracie (Brazil).
Amidst the pouring of congratulations and accolades for Blacko’s victory, many turned their attention to the outspoken Shatta Wale due to the 2018 tweet.
On December 21, 2018, Shatta Wale tweeted, “Eii B.E.T just sent me mail ooo.”
This tweet led to speculation that he had been contacted regarding a possible award win. However, nothing further was heard from Shatta Wale concerning the email.
Five years later, this tweet has resurfaced, prompting many to question Shatta Wale about the aftermath of the mentioned email. People are curious whether he was serious or had simply been joking about the matter.
