With his usual fervour, Joan Laporta employed his customary enthusiasm to energise the supporters ahead of Barcelona’s upcoming match against Villarreal.
He pledged the prospect of additional signings, aiming to bolster the team’s spirits.
Despite facing ongoing Financial Fair Play challenges throughout the summer, Laporta maintains his assurance that Barcelona is now in a position to secure further player acquisitions before the transfer window concludes.
Notably, there has been significant speculation connecting Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo and Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix to the Catalan club in recent weeks. Moreover, the potential departures of Ansu Fati and Marcos Alonso from Barcelona have also been subjects of discussion.
Then, asked about Felix, Laporta told Movistar: “You have to ask Deco. We have a salary margin for last-minute operations, more than one, and we are working on it”.
When asked about Fati’s continuance, he said, “Ansu is extraordinary; we are all in love. It was Xavi’s decision to bring him in and he is just another member of the squad who we want to improve. We are very happy that he is still with us.”
Laporta’s adeptness at boosting fan morale and his unwavering confidence have been instrumental in guiding him through his tenure, even in the face of the club’s persistent financial challenges. It’s anticipated that Cancelo will become a part of the team through a season-long loan arrangement. Additionally, there are reports indicating that Barcelona is open to including Fati as part of a potential agreement to secure Felix’s services.
The transfer window closes in less than four days, therefore, Laporta and Co. are facing a race against team to add to the squad.
