Arrest NDC thugs who assaulted Citi journalist at Odododiodio – Information Ministry to Police

The Ministry of Information has strongly denounced the assault on Akosua Otchere, a journalist from Citi FM, by National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters in Odododiodio on Friday, October 13, 2023.

In an official statement, the Ministry emphasized that journalists and media organizations should never be subjected to any kind of harassment, intimidation, or violence while simply carrying out their professional duties.

“The Ministry has urged the station to formally report the incident to both the Ghana Police Service and the NMC for appropriate action to be taken against the perpetrators.”

On Friday, October 13, 2023, Akosua Otchere, a journalist, was assaulted while providing coverage of the vetting process for parliamentary aspirants of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Odododiodio constituency in Accra.

Ms. Otchere was targeted by a group of individuals associated with the NDC, who forcefully twisted her arm and seized her phone. 

This incident unfolded when supporters of one of the aspirants engaged in destructive behavior, damaging party property, including chairs and an air conditioner, and resorted to throwing stones at the vetting committee members, alleging unfair treatment.
