Ghana’s journey at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris concluded without any medal victories, marking a disappointing end for the country.
The 4×100 relay team, composed of Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, Ibrahim Fuseini, Benjamin Azamati, and Joe Paul Amoah, faced disqualification in the semifinals.
Despite competing against teams like Jamaica, Canada, and Germany, the team struggled with a baton exchange error, ultimately finishing sixth in Heat 2.
A review confirmed the disqualification due to a late baton handoff on the final leg.
This incident capped off Ghana’s Olympic efforts, which failed to add to its historical tally of five Olympic medals.
Earlier in the Games, swimmer Harry Stacey was knocked out after placing seventh in the Men’s 100m Freestyle, and Joselle Alice Mensah narrowly missed advancing to the semi-finals in the Women’s 50m Freestyle, finishing fourth with a time of 26.81 seconds.
High jumper Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah showed promise, clearing the 1.83m and 1.88m bars effortlessly.
However, she was eliminated after three failed attempts at 1.92m, despite having a personal best of 1.97m.
In the 100m event, both Azamati and Saminu made it to the semi-finals but were unable to progress to the final round.
