Popular Ghanaian media personality, Bridget Otoo, has responded to Gabby Otchere-Darko’s call for the depoliticization of businesses, highlighting the challenges faced by some entrepreneurs due to political affiliations.
In a post on X dated May 5, Gabby Otchere-Darko expressed his desire for a future where business people are not associated with political affiliations.
He emphasized the importance of treating business people as individuals focused on success and job creation, rather than labeling them based on their political connections.
But in a tweet, Mrs Otoo recounted the story of a woman at the free zones area whose business was allegedly collapsed because she was suspected to be affiliated with the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to Mrs Otoo, all the stock the woman had produced was left in store, and the government reportedly hired a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to reproduce the same material, providing financial support for the purchase of machines.
Mrs Otoo’s tweet suggests that despite the woman’s efforts to seek redress, including visiting the vice president, the decision was not reversed.
She concluded by expressing skepticism about the sincerity of Otchere-Darko’s call for businesses to be treated without political bias, especially in light of such incidents.
