The Israeli defence minister says that after the war with Hamas is finished, Israel will stop taking care of life in the Gaza Strip.
Yoav Gallant told parliament’s foreign affairs and defence committee that Israel’s military campaign aims to cut off connections with the coastal enclave.
Gallant said he wants to get rid of Hamas completely, including both its military and governing abilities. He also wants to establish a new and safer situation in the region.
Israel moved its soldiers and people who lived there from Gaza in 2005, but it still has power over the airspace, shared border, and shoreline.
