Former West Ham player Frank McAvennie has voiced concerns over the potential departure of Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta from the club in the upcoming transfer window.

He cites ongoing speculation and worries about losing the influential pair, both of whom have played significant roles for the Hammers this season.

Despite encountering injury setbacks, Brazilian midfielder Paqueta has contributed seven goals and seven assists across various competitions, while Ghanaian sensation Kudus has impressed with 13 goals and five assists in 36 appearances for the club.

McAvennie fears that West Ham may contemplate selling Kudus and Paqueta to raise funds, especially as the club seeks new investors to improve its financial standing.

The former Hammers and Celtic striker stresses the importance of retaining both players while urging the club to strengthen the squad with additional signings during the upcoming summer transfer window.

“I think we’ve got people who can score goals,” he told Football Insider.

“We’ve got Kudus and Paqueta… keeping those two is the biggest problem for me, I fear they will both leave, that’s what I keep hearing.

McAvennie’s comments highlight his concerns about the possibility of West Ham losing key assets such as Kudus and Paqueta.

He stresses the importance of the club prioritizing the retention of these players while also addressing defensive weaknesses.

Paqueta is entering his second season at West Ham, while Mohammed Kudus joined the club last summer and has quickly made an impact.

Before joining West Ham, the 23-year-old Kudus garnered interest from several top clubs across Europe, including Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, and Barcelona.

The reliability of McAvennie’s sources regarding a potential summer transfer for either player remains uncertain.
