Kwame Pianim, a prominent member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has raised questions about the political philosophy of the party’s 2024 presidential flagbearer.
The respected economist expressed his curiosity about Mahamudu Bawumia’s political philosophy during an interview on TV3.
Mr Pianim indicated that understanding the vice president’s political philosophy is crucial in assessing his motivations for seeking the presidency.
“I will ask him, first of all, why do you want to become president of Ghana and he has to tell me, because I don’t know his political philosophy.
“I know him as an economist, I don’t know what he believes in. You know, the NPP, we believe in certain basic principles and I find out that even some of my cherished members pay lip service to private entrepreneurship and giving Ghanaians control of this economy and yet they are jealous of businessmen making money,” he submitted.
He emphasized that businessmen should be viewed as contributing to national service by creating jobs, advocating for their support through sovereign guarantees.
During the same interview, Kwame Pianim refuted reports labeling him as an economic advisor to the Bawumia campaign manifesto team, dismissing them as “fake news.”
