After overpowering the military forces in a three-hour gunfire exchange, the gunmen proceeded to Nahuta, where they looted shops and homes, causing widespread panic and prompting many residents to seek refuge in nearby villages.

The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges posed by armed gangs, locally known as bandits, in Nigeria.
