Pragya” drivers, who operate motorized tricycles, are a common sight on roads in Ghana. These vehicles, also known as “Yellow Yellow” or “Mahama Camboo,” are popular for their affordability and convenience, especially in areas where larger vehicles can’t easily
However, their presence on the roads has sparked significant debate. On one hand, they provide essential transportation and job opportunities for many young people.
On the other hand, they are often criticized for contributing to road accidents due to reckless driving and non-compliance with traffic regulations.
Many of these tricycles are unregistered, and some drivers are underage or unlicensed, which exacerbates the problem.
The situation is complex, as these vehicles are both a blessing and a curse.
They offer a practical solution to transportation needs but also pose safety risks to other road users
