The Ghana Police Service has interdicted a Police Chief Inspector, Benjamine Doe Kuwornu, stationed in the Central Region for misconducting himself in a video that has been sighted by the Police Administration.
The police, in their statement, failed to state the context of the misconduct, but a video shared by Graphic Online has provided the missing link.
Chief Inspector Kuwornu in the video believed to have been sighted by the Police administration voiced sharp criticism against President Akufo-Addo, labeling him as “incompetent” and accusing him of squandering Ghana’s resources.
“Mr President, you are destroying our nation. I want to meet you one on one…,” he said, adding “You are making a serious mistake….” he said.
His interdiction, the police said, is to allow for a thorough investigation into his conduct in line with Police Service Regulations.
“We would like to reiterate our assurance to the general public that the Police Service will continue to ensure that professionalism is maintained at all times in the discharge of our mandate,” the Police assured in a statement.
This is ridiculous. Who in this country doesn’t know that there’s no professionalism in the Police service. Those who say they’ve interdicted Mr Kuwornu, where were they when some police personnel were openly drinking kalipo as a campaign message for Akuffo Addo when he was in opposition. So it’s only when a certain political party is in power that you put on your thinking caps. Professionalism is also thrown to the dogs when your favourite political party is not in power. Apart from Ghana, where else in this world would you see this kind of stomach and bias police service. I think it’s about time you started administering equal justice to every police personnel irrespective of which political party is in power. It’s only when the populace see you do that, that you’ll be taken serious. Other than that, some of us will take such interdictions as a joke in a circus.
Why interdict him? This is a drunken idiot who deserves no place in a respectable institution like the Ghana Police Service. He must be dismissed outrightly for breaching the code of ethics in the service.
